Our Top 10 Tips for your Santa Paws visit to Siamsa’s Enchanted Christmas Winter Wonderland

No family photo is complete without the fur babies! However, getting a pet to sit still for a photo can be tricky. With a little preparation, you can ensure your furry friend has a stress-free and enjoyable visit. Here are some helpful tips on handling your pet for their photo with Santa at Siamsa Tíre!

1. Preparation. To get the most out of your visit, please familiarise yourself with our Santa Paws Terms and Conditions before you arrive.

2. Looking Pawsh! Give your dog a good brush before you arrive so that they are camera ready. If you plan to have them professionally groomed, you may need to book in advance during this busy season. Petmania’s Dog Grooming Studio offers an extensive menu of treatments and can be booked online at www.petmania.ie

3. Dress to Impress. After getting gorgeously groomed, don’t forget to accessorise your dog (and all the humans in the family) with festive Santa Hats, Antlers and Christmas Jumpers. It’s best to avoid anything that might be restrictive or uncomfortable, if your dog is not used to wearing accessories, keep it light and simple with a festive bandana, bow, bowtie or collar. Let your dog wear it a few times before their visit to help them to get used to it.

4. Walkies! Exercise your dog before their visit. This will help them to burn off excess energy or excitement for the best chance of capturing a great photo. Siamsa Tíre is located beside Tralee Town Park, the perfect place for a pre-visit walk, just be careful not to step in any ‘Poodles’!

5. Bring a Toy. Bring their favourite toy along, this can be used behind the camera to capture their attention and our Elves can help you with this.

6. Bring Dog Treats. Small easy to eat treats will help to encourage good behaviour, if your dog is the shy type, ask Santa to give them the treat to help create a bond with him. And of course, we will have plenty of treats available for the human members of the family. Our bar will be serving a delightful selection of warm and comforting beverages and treats, mulled wine, Baileys Hot Chocolate and festive biscuits that are perfect with a ‘Pup of Tea’.

7. Who’s a Good Boy? Remember, this is an exciting experience for the whole family and a brand-new one for your pooch who may be a bit nervous. In addition to treats, use positive reinforcement like petting and verbal praise to encourage good behaviour. Bring along their blanket if you think they will find comfort in it.

8. Candid Shots! These can often be the best type and really show your dog’s personality. At Siamsa’s Enchanted Christmas Winter Wonderland, you use your own phone to take as many photos as you wish, keep snapping and you might just capture the perfect candid photo by accident! Of course, our Elves are also on hand to help with your photoshoot and ensure the whole family have a group shot. Look online before your visit to see if there’s any particular style of photo that you would like to replicate.

9. Accidents Happen. We know that accidents can happen but no need to ‘Terrier-self’ up about it!  Try not to give your dog too much to drink before the shoot to help avoid them being uncomfortable and having an accident. We advise that you leave time on arrival to make use of the park facilities for your dog to relieve itself before entry. Doggy bags will be provided on entry to help you clean up as you go around the experience if required, and a bin will be located near the entrance for disposal.

10. Pupperazzi! Feel free to share your photos on our social media pages or email them to Michelle at marketing@new.eggdesign.ie. We would love to see them!

We would like to thank our sponsor Petmania for helping us make Santa Paws at Siamsa’s Enchanted Christmas Winter Wonderland ‘Pawsable’ this year!
