'The Beautiful Forest' by Tatyana Feeney Mar-Apr 2025

This magical exhibition for children brought to life two of Tatyana’s recent children’s books, Skipping Stones and Crann na nGuionna. The books and exhibition explore the trees and forests that inhabit Tatyana’s imagination, inspired from a childhood growing up in the woods of North Carolina. We welcomed families to step into the trees at Siamsa Tíre to enjoy this free exhibition which was perfect for children aged 0-12yrs.

Entry for all exhibitions is free to enjoy 10am-5:30pm, last entry for exhibitions is 5pm. Hours may change seasonally or during events, please see our Building Opening Hours for latest updates.

Tatyana’s Books featured in The Beautiful Forest Exhibition: www.tatyanafeeney.com

Book 1: Skipping Stones: This is a wordless picture book or Silent Book which invites the reader to follow a young girl and her father on an adventure through the woods to the cool water’s edge. There’s lots to spot and discuss, from dragonflies and exotic birds overhead to turtles and colourful fish in the water. “Delicately coloured illustrations and plenty of space to allow room for sharing a small girl’s experiences while exploring a pond in a wood… A delight on many levels.” -Valerie Coghlan, president of Bookbird, Inc.

Book 2: Crann na nGuionna / Wishing Tree: A fluorescent ink printed book about considering the overlooked and the unseen and appreciating the beauty of nature.

Crann guíonna? A wishing tree?
Nó crann a bhíonn ag guí?
Or a tree that wishes?
Ceanglaíonn daoine a nguíonna den chrann seo. Ach…
People tie their wishes to this tree. But…
Nach bhfuil guíonna dá cuid féin ag an gcrann?
Does the tree not have her own wishes?

Art Workshop 2025 at Siamsa Tire Theatre 1

Children’s Art Workshop (3-10yrs)

During the exhibition, Tatyana Feeney offered children 3-10yrs a magical forest workshop inspired by the exhibition.

In this creative workshop, children explored their imaginations through forest-inspired doodling, pastel art, and collage, working together to build a vibrant, magical woodland masterpiece which was displayed in the Siamsa Tíre art gallery that weekend. The children also had the option to take home their own individual creations. A hands-on experience perfect for young artists and nature lovers! Tickets were €6 for a 1hour workshop which took place on Thurs 24th April.
